Part 1: HTC TYTN2 - HardSPL & Unlocking

by Teh KillerBee 17. March 2011 20:42

It is time for a new UPDATE!

I am busy in college (surprise, surprise), and have not had any spare time to post in this blog.. Until now! I have also had a couple of problems with my TYTNII, and they delayed this guide quite a bit (almost a month Surprised)

As I promised, I will explain how to install custom operating systems on the (ancient) HTC Kaiser aka the HTC Tilt & TYTNII. Most of you interested in this, probably just want to install Android, but if you still like WinMo, it is also possible to run the newest Windows Mobile 6.5.3 - with 3D drivers of course! Cool

BEFORE YOU PROCEED: REMEMBER TO BACK UP ALL YOUR IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!one!!1

You also need to MAKE SURE THE USB PLUG IS PROPERLY CONNECTED!

I decided to split this guide up in three parts, where the first one explains how to unlock the phone and the bootloader, the socalled HardSPL used for flashing custom ROM's

First of all you need to get to know THIS section of xda-developers. You can find all the informations you will need about the TYTN2 here.

There is already quite a few really good guides on xda-developers, explaining how to flash your phone. I will recommend you check out the Flashing Your First Kaiser Rom (For Noobs) thread first, since this will explain all the basics. This is the thread I used, when I first started using custom ROM's on my phone a couple of years back. Return to this post when you are done installing HardSPL and unlocking your phone if it was already locked Smile

If your phone is still working at this point, you are now ready for

Part 2: HTC TYTN2 - Installing a custom Windows Mobile OS

Oh just so you know.. The ROM upgrade MIGHT crash or freeze when the ROM is being upgraded.. Yep this did happend to me when I was using vista.. Ohh good old vista always works when you need it Cool

About me

I am the ~20 year old Johannes, a computer geek from the small scandinavian country called Denmark, self-taught in programming & electronics.

Some of my interests are hacking & working on different projects (both hardware & software) and also electronic music in various forms. Electronics engineering is also a great interest of mine, and hopefully I will be able to make a living at this in the future Smile

I will use this blog as a way of telling you about the different projects and problems I work with every day while (hopefully) entertaining, helping and maybe inspiring you in the process Cool
